Stupa in Jain Science - जैन परम्परा में स्तूप

The Stupa is a mound built in the memory of great persons, Saints and Tirthankaras.

As per my research and discussion with several Jain Guru’s & scholars, I am trying to decode that Stupa’s are true Jain Temple. There are several documentations and manuscripts along with existing old structures which are demonstrating this, still more research and further study on the subject of Jain temple architecture is required.

Stupa’s were the space for vishista acharyas for doing deep meditation (sadhana) following the systems of Jain science of introspection and Samayak Darshan. Stupa were constructed for a sacred enclosure where only copy of divine text and manuscripts were kept for preservations and referrals.

The Stupa building behaves like a device that acts like an antenna or wave guide to activate, accumulate, conduct, transduce and manipulate energies in the form of fields, grids and vortexes. To begin with, the Stupa incorporates several types and shapes of pyramids which have been well known to generate vortex energies.  Pyramids have triangular faces but may have from three to multi-sided polygons for bases.  The stupa is pyramid with curved triangular faces. The type and strength of the energy produce varies according to the geometry and size of the stupa. This energy accumulates in the dome and in the stone construction material which act like capacitors and conduct energy into the planetary grid system to be distributed around the planet.

It produces a toroidal field like that the human aura and that which surrounds the human mind, heart, and body as well as the earth, solar system and galaxy.

It is an universal form of energy that interacts with fields of like geometry through resonance.

History of Stupa’s in India :

Several existing, half damaged and only remains of Jain Stupas are found all over the world, few researched, reviews and documents references are listed below, which we believe are authentic and true.

  1. Bahubaliji : When the king missed meeting Adinath Bhagwan, he made the stupa at the place where Bhagwan stayed during his short visit.
  2. Ashtapada : was constructed by Bharat Chakravarty ) Simhnishadhya-ayatana ) Ashtapad Tirth is mountain on which the first Jain Tithankar, Bhagwan Rushabhdev attained nirvana and is considered to be the holiest of holy Jain shrine. Though to date no one has been able to confirm its exact location and is now considered to be a ‘lost’ Tirth. Ashtapad literally means eight steps which could be either eight giant steps to ascend the mountain or a chain of eight mountain peaks. Earlier it was believed that it was located in the vicinity of Mount Kailash and Maansarovar. However, attempts through two exploratory expeditions and also satellite observation of all the mountain ranges in the area did not yield any authentic proof of Ashtapad’s existence there.
  3. Recent surveys indicate that Ashtapad Mountain is located in Sichuan Province in South West China near the Tibetan border and that is filled with immense natural beauty. It is called Ashtapad perhaps because there are eight mountain peaks. There are numerous caves in this area and there is a valley named ‘Muni Valley’. There are many crystal idols that shine in the dark. One can go to this mountain range by securing permission from the local Lamas
  4. Munisuvratswami Stupa in Vaishali
  5. Mathura Stupa : A Jain stupa dated to the 1st century BCE-1st century CE was excavated at Mathura in the 19th century, in the Kankali. Several Ayagpatta were found around the old stupa areas demonstrating the size look and design of this Stupa.
  6. Pawapuri : Mahaveer Swami Deshna space has a stupa created by Nandivardhan, this is situated behind Pavapuri Samaswaran Mandir.
  7. Vaddamanu is a village in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh: In excavation pillars, railing, cross-bars, coping, umbrellas and other architectural remnants of Vihara and Stupa, suggesting a grand stupa in the area. Jain stupa similar to Kankali Tila were excavated in the area. The representation in art motif of stupa suggests the stupa was dedicated to Jainism. The inscriptions indicate Vaddamanu as Jain centre in 3rd century BCE to 6th century CE. There are two ellipsoidal structure similar to Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves. These structures were used as place of worship.
  8. Platform of a Jain Stupa at Sirkap, near Taxila, now Pakistanaround 100 BCE.

Energy Understanding :

Environmental (Vastu Shastra) Effects

  1. Energy Measurements of replica Stupa made in natural stone gives us readings measured by H3 Gold Lecher Antenna on Bovis scale as Cosmic : 3000, Global: 39000 & Telluric : 85000
  2. Above readings demonstrates that current model of replica Stupa has strong energies at Telluric level which is from earth energies.
  3. Earth Energies signifies stability and strong grounding which is the most prominent energy.
  4. Stupa with high telluric energies also means that keeping this model inside the home or workplace will help increasing mental stability and financial gains.
  5. Current model of Stupa with the base can be kept on a table or platform 30 inches above ground in south, southeast and southwest direction of the room or space.

Bio-energy (Prana) effect

  1. Top part of the Stupa which is the radiating section has been kept raw and unpolished for the energy seeker to touch with his both the hands.
  2. When you sit in the right direction on the ground or earth keeping the stupa in front ,you can feel the energies radiating from the stone and reaching inside your body.
  3. When you place both hands inner palms on the top of stupa and feel the texture with closed eyes, you get the sensation of this telluric vibrations reaching your bio-energies. 9. Recharged bio-energies activates our Prana and help us regain the lost connection to mother earth.

Devine Geometry

  1. The shape and overall size of the whole Stupa model is designed following Golden section & specific mathematics.
  2. Position of Stone on the wooden base is also designed following bio-energy principles
  3. Red colored Namokar Mantra in Prakrit language installed at a particular dimension on the plate too defines a specific vibration
  4. The magnetic vibrations of stone with namokar sound vibrations (Mantra ) when collaborates with electric charge of human palms ( Yantra ) the net result which reaches inside our body at the core is Electromagnetic vibrations which forms the TANTRA.
  5. This tantra is the energy which we presume would have been the core purpose of making these energy shrines in gigantic forms more above human scale.

Spiritual Importance

  1. Several 100 years back, Stupas were made with doors and entry but without any windows and environmental connect this was for a reason to store the energies inside this vacuum.
  2. Hollow Stupas were either storage of valuable single copy of Jain texts written by Tirthankaras or highly elevated Acharyas or they were closed spaces charged with chants and energies by the God.
  3. These Stupas are the energy antenna which radiates divine vibrations and if you are rightly tuned, you can get in resonance to these & get this wisdom.
  4. Vishistha Acharyas, Sadhus and Saints which was the inner circle of the Jain Sadhana could get connected to Stupas as part of their journey to reach to the highest knowledge which is Keval Gyan.
  5. Special doors and opening where also made in few stupas where these saints can enter and sit alone in the middle of this vacuum and do the Sadhana.
  6. Few references also shows that Jain text and manuscripts, or book hand written by Acharyas were kept inside the Stupas and only few individuals were allowed to go inside and read.
  7. Stupas were also made on top of strong geo-biological spaces which were once habitat by Gods or Tirthankaras so that their energies can be stored and amplified in their absence.
  8. Bhagwan, Acharyas and Saint’s Deshana Space, Nirwan Space, Birth Places etc where also the land where Stupas were made with the Spiritual intent to save such divine space to get polluted and made as energy source for next generations.

Conclusion :

  1. Stupas are the true Jain Temples and we need to create a design document so that more Stupas are made in modern context, strongly following the Geo-biological norms on sacred spaces with strong energy intent by Acharyas and Jain saints.
  2. We should evolve and Stupa construction manual using all the past information and using new techniques.
  3. Stupas can be built in natural construction material following sacred geometry and divine proportions following norms of Vastu Shilpa Shastra and Building Biology.
  4. Power Spots and Geological strong spaces needs to be identified using modern energy measurement tools which than can be spiritually activated by Acharya’s to construct modern day Stupas
